WASH Project

CKI is excited to continue its five-year signature project, in partnership with UNICEF, called WASH. WASH is the collective term for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. WASH aims to provide education, awareness, and funding to supply clean drinking water and sanitation education to schools and children in underdeveloped regions. Since 1990, UNICEF and partners have played a key role as 2.6 billion people gained access to safe drinking water. Still, nearly 1,000 children die everyday due to a lack of safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene. Our signature project efforts target Haiti’s emergency needs with a complete WASH response package; supporting emergency water access interventions for people in drought-affected areas; and providing internally displaced people with alternative sustainable sanitation strategies.

Our two anchor programs for WASH are “Trick or Treat for UNICEF” and “March Water Madness”:

1. Trick or Treat for UNICEF – For years, CKI has partnered with UNICEF in October to raise money for important causes, such as the WASH project during the month of October.
2. March Water Madness – this program occurs every March for the next five years and focuses on intense fundraising and awareness for WASH. Resources are provided for fundraising projects centered around March Madness water challenges. New this year, WASH-A-Thon. This campaign is a virtual or hybrid WASH fundraising marathon that features 24 consecutive hours of programming, all centered around raising money and awareness for The WASH Project. Join Circle K International board members on March 6, 2021, to kick off March Water Madness and learn more about how you can host your own WASH-A-Thon using this toolkit.
3. Monthly Calendar Challenge – Support WASH all year by taking our monthly calendar challenges. Post the WASH calendar on social media and encourage your friends and family to select a day to donate. Don’t forget to update your followers on your progress throughout the month. At the end of the month, turn in the funds using the form below. Good luck!
