As schools return from break, these next few months will be vital to ensuring successful membership recruitment and retention within each club and district. Whether you’re a club officer or a member, you play a part in building up your club!
For recruitment, start by creating a club recruitment plan and timeline. Sit down and have a conversation with your fellow club members about membership goals for the school year, as well as events where you can promote CKI! Most important, make sure all individuals involved truly know CKI and can speak about the organization’s benefits as well as their personal experiences. Also, make sure you collect contact info for potential new recruits — and follow up later to invite them to meetings, events and service projects!
For retention, start with your current club members. Make sure you reach out to members from the previous service year and invite them to upcoming meetings to keep them engaged. Work with the rest of your club to offer incentives and fun opportunities to encourage everyone to remain involved throughout the service year. Make sure your club sets up consistent meeting schedules and maintains communication for continued engagement.
Next, use social media as a force for outreach, promotion and relationship-building. Don’t post simply to talk about the organization, but to show off events, service and the community that exists within your clubs! Make your club pages engaging, interesting and up-to-date to continue connecting with both new and existing members.
Finally, be passionate about CKI! Whether by proudly repping your CKI merch or by speaking about CKI with a smile, remain excited. The most effective recruiting and retention is done by members who are truly passionate. So be energetic!
