In 3-5 sentences, tell us about yourself.

My name is Matt Sorrels, and I am a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill, double-majoring in political science and history. I’ve been a member of the Kiwanis family since my first year of high school — and I have no plans of leaving anytime soon! In my free time, I like to play basketball or spend time with friends. If I had to choose one place to be stuck at, it would definitely be the beach!

What are you most looking forward to about your year as governor?

For the most part, I’m just excited to expand my CKI network and make new friends. This organization is overflowing with great people, and I love meeting others who are devoted to service!

Favorite CKI memory

After a few meetings during my first year of college, I remember finally feeling a sense of companionship with my home club. As I’m sure most CKI members can attest to, having friends to serve with greatly enhances the experience!

Favorite service project

During my sophomore year, a local church hosted a service project called “Night to Shine.” It was an event through the Tim Tebow Foundation that gave members of the special-needs community in our area a prom night.
